The Judy Steinberg Hebrew Academy of Palm Beach County proudly presents the

"World's First Passover Talk Show hosted by Preschool Students"

Be part of history watch this video.

This six minute Passover "World Premiere Passover Talk Show"  explores Passover through the eyes of preschoolers.

PRESCHOOLERS & STAFF HAVE BEEN BUSY AT THE HEBREW ACADEMY

Each Hebrew Academy preschool student has individually completed a mock Seder that will be presented to you in a special Haggadah book created by our students and staff.  Please be sure to bring your preschool child's personal Hagaddah with you wherever you are going to enjoy your Passover Seder. This way your child can follow along and understand the importance of their Jewish heritage. We are very proud of their accomplishments and praise them for their patience and focus at such a young age.

At the Hebrew Academy we understand how important it is for our children to  experiene sitting through the Seder.  For a child a minute often feels likes an hour - do you personally recall how long seders took or how fast we managed to get through it (lol)?  After watching our Hebrew Academy preschool students Passover Talk Show video it becomes clear that when a child is introduced to the meaning behind an action, the action becomes much more engaging to them.

Pesach (Passover) For Hebrew Academy Preschool Students

Who's Old Enough To Lead A Pesach Seder?

At the Judy Steinberg Hebrew Academy of Palm Beach County the preschool students range in age range from two to four years old.

For the students attending the Hebrew Academy it is the perfect time in their lives to begin celebrating Pesach by learning how to lead their own Pesach Seder.

The children at the Hebrew Academy are gearing up for the upcoming holiday in a variety of ways.

As we celebrate our exodus from Egypt during the Pesach seder, we have many traditions that commemorate the enslavement in Egypt and the freedom of leaving.

Hebrew Academy Passover

Hebrew academy preschool students love acitivity, they want to learn through actions. This helps them to understand thier heritage. We eat matzah - "poor man's bread" - and maror, bitter herbs, to remind us of the hard times. Dipping in saltwater recalls the tears we shed and the charoset - made with grated apples, walnuts, and wine - reminds us of the mortar used in the difficult manual labor. On Pesach night we also dine like kings and recline like free men.

The children are so proud of the pillow cases they decorated to bring home and use on seder night, along with their very own haggadas and props to tell the story of the ten plagues that G-d brought upon the Egyptians and the Jews' miraculous salvation. Their seder tables will be also be decked with their own hand-decorated wine goblets, seder plates, and beautiful matzah covers! The children also got plenty of practice searching for the hidden piece of matzah - the prized afikoman.

At the Judy Steinberg Hebrew Academy of Palm Beach County we focus on teaching through fun preschool student activities and focused learning.  Our preschool students learn the blessing of Torah by making Torah an engaging part of their lives.

Purim Activities At The Hebrew Academy

Learning Through Jewish Preschool Activities

"Purim is the time that our preschool children dress up and become Kings and Queens for the day." explained Hebrew Academy Pre School director and teacher Vicki Hercsky.

"They love imitiating the story of Purim. The children visualize the Purim characters and they play out the story, they become the story!

We begin by reading them the story of Esther and Purim...Long ago, in a country called Persia there was a king named Achashveyrosh and his queen Vashti... the children play out the story acting as the king and the queen. Because the queen had pimples the pre school children paint pimples on their faces. The story comes to life.

We at the Hebrew Academy choose to reenact the Purim story, to bring it into real life. Children have vivid imaginations, articulating what they see and feel is not always easy. Having an outlet like the Hebrew Academy to play out their imagination helps the students begin the verbal process of expressing their thoughts."

Purim is about creating a sense of oneness and unity between all Jew, young and old. There is no greater way for them to create that connectedness then to bring happiness and joy and gifts to their own families as well as to others.

That’s what we do at the Hebrew Academy, we dance, we sing and we gave hugs.  We visited the residents at a senior community near us, we sat closely with them and we shared smiles.

Instilling Jewish values for life is a fundamental mission of the Hebrew Academy.

Hebrew Academy Visits Traditions In Palm Beach

Hebrew Academy Purim Tradition

"As has been our Jewish preschool activity tradition at the Judy Steinberg Hebrew Academy of Palm Beach County, the children of our pre school shared Purim holiday joy with the residents at Traditions in Morse Life Center in West Palm Beach" Rabbi Moshe Cheplowitz headmaster of Hebrew Academy explained.

The preschoolers went in costumes and sang Purim songs, this delighted everyone there! The children also give bags of goodies "Mishloach Manot" that they prepared for the residents to enjoy.

Hebrew Academy Purim

Traditons:  A great experience for the kids and elders. Everyone experienced first hand the joy of Purim and the happiness of Mishloach Manos (giving of presents).

Vicki Hercsky, the Judy Steinberg Hebrew Academy Preschool Director said, "After receiving the pre school children's gifts the seniors gave back to The Hebrew Academy children pieces of candy.  The joy of receiving and sharing filled the air."

Headmaster:Rabbi Moshe Cheplowitz answers the question. Why is Purim important for the children?  "Because it is a holiday where we have a sense of responsibility to reach out to our fellow Jews.

One of the purposes or responsibilities is to give money to the poor. The idea is for us to have a sense of responsibilities to all Jews. One of the aspects is to have a sense of responsibilities to those who have different kinds of needs.  We need to spend time with those who need happiness and joy in their lives.

Hebrew Academy Visits Traditions for Purim

With the spirit of Purim in full force at Hebrew Academy of Palm Beach, you'd have been hard-pressed to find a child who was not dressed in a fabulous costume! The dramatic play areas were transformed into beautiful palaces and the children loved sitting in the thrones.

•  Princesses and queens, princes and kings were all part of the fun as the children delighted in reenacting the Purim story. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed taking turn being the different characters: the silly King Achashverosh, the Queen Vashti (who met a sad fate), the wicked Haman, the righteous Mordechai the Jew, and, of course, the star, the beautiful Queen Esther.

•  The children have been singing lots of fun Purim songs and learning about the many mitzvot with which Purim is filled.  We give food baskets (mishlo'ach manot) to our friends, give tzedakah (charity) to those who are needy, listen to the megilla being read, and enjoy a delicious feast!

•  The children made their own graggers so, when Haman's name is mentioned, they can make lots of noise and shake, shake, shake! They had fun decorating their own masks as well.
